Changing

David Bowie opened his song, “Still don’t know what I was waiting for/ And my time was running wild, a million dead-end streets and/ Every time I thought I’d got it made/ It seemed the taste was not so sweet”

The continual rebirth of our selves through life is an inevitability. As Bowie suggests, the true struggle is embracing that evolution as it comes rather than resisting; remaining adaptable. Befitting changes and growth, welcome to my new website and the part of my portfolio I can and do make public.*†

I hope to share a wide variety of projects as I have had the opportunity to dabble in many media from wood furniture to pieces molded in fiber-reinforced-polymers to acrylic paint on canvas to sculpted cement. My original background is carpentry with 20+ years of cabinetry and furniture experience. I have done multiple production runs of the same desk design and I have designed and built custom pieces that have never been replicated.

Currently, I’m in the midst of a two painting series based on the old neighborhood I used to live in. I’m also in the midst of a series of small sculptures very generally based on fit-in-the-palm-of-your-hand-sized creatures. That’s when I’m not at my day job or doing projects around our house like an upcoming deck addition outside our bedroom.

All my side projects were interrupted when we packed up and moved across Fresno about 15 months ago, so the last year has been spent getting my feet back under me, setting up my very first home workshop, and finding my direction again. So, follow along, toss your email in the Contact form for updates to the gallery and new blog posts.

Whatever the project, it will be an opportunity for change and growth. Watch out you rock ‘n rollers.

* I have worked on quite a number of attractions, props, and other artists’ art, that required my signature on a non-disclosure agreement. Non-disclosure work is an opportunity to see how a more well-known, or very well-known, institution or artist operates (or doesn’t in some instances). Those projects, while not explicitly shared here, are still a part of my knowledge and experience.

† I have also built lots of garbage that no one needs to see but which has also been part of my education. As so many have said before, failure is an opportunity to learn and grow but that doesn’t mean you need to see video of me falling down every single time.
